How do you create a mini game such as the ones on many online websites?

I really want to create a game i can share on websites. Like addictinggames and miniclips, the whole website is filled with games.. i have no idea how to create one like them.. Is there a program i need to download.. i have a Macintosh so PC programs will not work. Someone please help!!
