Psychology question. why does physical contact make me so uncomfortable?

there could be a number of things. I don't particularly like it when strange people or annoying people try and give me hugs (happened the other day). It's probably because you aren't that comfortable around those people. just slowly, smoothly back away when they're too close. everybody likes their own personal space.
