96 explorer 4.0 v6 hard starting must hold pedal to floor?

Replaced intake gaskets, plugs and wires, and fuel filter. Once you get it running it is ok. Till you cut it off. Then the cycle starts again. Backfires thru breather spits and sputters. Any help.
